Crowley is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, in the United States. The population was 12,838 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 7,467 at the time of the 2000 census.
Pioneers started cultivating the region surrounding Deer Creek about 1848. When the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway erected kennels and dug rails there, the hamlet relocated a mile or two west to the location of modern-day Crowley. In 1885, the first station depot was erected. The town was named after S. H. Crowley, the railroad’s head of transportation.
On February 3, 1951, a vote was taken to ratify Crowley’s incorporation. On September 3, 1972, the town council agreed to alter Crowley’s status from town to city.
